POLITY

Call for New Editor

The Northeastern Political Science Association seeks a new editor for its distinguished, peer-reviewed journal Polity, to succeed Andrew J. Polsky (Hunter College and the Graduate Center, CUNY), effective July 1, 2010. The editor’s term is five years. Now in its 41st year, Polity is a general political science journal that has been recognized by scholars across the discipline as among its ten best-known journals. It publishes original research, review essays, and occasional forums and special issues organized by the editor. With electronic submission and review, time-to-decision on manuscripts is two months. Each year the journal receives about 120 submissions with an acceptance rate below twenty per cent.

The journal is published quarterly by Palgrave Macmillan, which provides an editorial subsidy to help defray the costs associated with running a journal. Some support has been provided by the editor’s home university, including office space, released time and graduate student assistance. The editor serves as a member of the executive committee of the Northeastern Political Science Association and is expected to attend committee meetings twice a year, once at the annual conference of the Association in November and once in the spring.

Review of applications/nominations will begin on or about September 1, 2009.  Applications should be sent to: Jeffrey Kraus, Executive Director, Northeastern Political Science Association, Wagner College, 1 Campus Road, Staten Island, NY 10301 or by e-mail at jkraus@wagner.edu.
